Travelling tips to Save the Day number 6, Clothes, SIM cards, flights.

Send documents to email.

I keep saying it and I will keep saying it because is the best tip ever always always always takes pictures of your documents and send them to yourself by email so you got a copy on your email server so if you lose everything you still got a copies of everything on your email so don't just take a photograph but email it to yourself and stored it in your folder so that you know you've got copies of everything.

Cheap clothing full stop

I have found over the years that one of the best things to do is to take on holiday all your old clothes so then once you've used them you they can be given away or binned but if you lose a suitcase then you haven't got to worry because all that was in there was all your cheap and old clothing, The same thing goes to your suitcase buy a cheap suitcase because then people will know that a cheap suitcase will normally have cheap stuff in it and it's not worth stealing, if your bag gets lost somehow you can say to yourself let's just get on with it and buy some new stuff because it was all cheap stuff. I found it easy to take my old clothes using once or twice then given them away and go out and buy some new cheap stuff and it works really well I never have to worry about losing anything because it was only cheap old stuff.

Mobile phones and SIM cards full stop

I always find that when you go to another country it's worth it to buy a local sim card pay as you go I'll pop it into your phone this way if you wish to make any calls it's going to be at the local rate which can be sometimes a lot cheaper than using your own, you can also give your friends and family at home your new temporary number rather than you running up a large roaming bill,I also found it easy to take a cheap throw away phone if you like and use that while you on holiday and keep your good iPhone or whatever locked up in the hotel, we all know that phones are one of the most popular items for getting stolen or lost so a cheap pay-as-you-go phone with a cheap SIM card works really well while on holiday. It'll be one less worry for you to worry about it something should happen to it. Also make sure that your holiday insurance covers you for your expensive phones and if it does get stolen make sure you get a police crime number from the local police so that you can report it to your insurance when you get home.

Late and early flights.

I found one thing when I was booking flights that there was always a flight that was too early in the morning of too late at night, When booking your flight look very carefully at the departure times and how far they are away from your hotel, you do not want to be getting up at 1 a.m. in the morning to get to a flight at 5 a.m. and an hour or two driving from the hotel so when you look at your flight times trying to Book flights  to give you plenty of time and none of these ridiculous hours, When you're in a third world country, again, The infrastructure can be unreliable so you don't want to be catching a 5 a.m. flight and not getting to the airport it's best to get a 5 p.m. flight and you got all day to get there. Its all things that people don't consider because they just want to book a flight to a destination and enjoy the holiday but at the time things can go wrong and then you wish you had so now I'm telling you to look at your flight times and how far they are from the hotel and what the infrastructure is like in that country, don't catch any early morning flights if possible.
